Synastry

We do not meet people by accident. The charts of two people in relationship speak to each other, and the conversation between them tells a story that neither chart tells alone. Synastry is the branch of astrology that listens in on that conversation. Whether the bond is romantic, familial, a friendship, or a working partnership, the synastry chart shows where two people fit easily, where they catch on each other, and what the relationship is actually asking of both of them.

I am Deaglán MacCanna, and I have been practising traditional astrology since 2013. My approach to synastry is the same as my approach to a natal chart. I am not interested in telling you that you are “compatible” or “incompatible” as if a relationship were a yes-or-no question. I want to show you the actual texture of the bond. Where one person’s Venus falls in the other’s chart, where the Saturn contacts sit, where Chiron is activated, all of these describe the real work the relationship is doing. Some of that work is easy and some of it is hard, and a useful synastry reading tells you which is which without dressing either one up.

The reading is not only for new couples wondering whether to commit. People come to synastry at every stage of a bond: long marriages hitting a rough patch, parents and adult children trying to understand each other, business partners deciding whether to sign, siblings making sense of a lifelong friction. If two people matter to each other, their charts will say so, and the reading will show how.

A note on birth times

Synastry depends on accurate birth times for both people. The house overlays, which is where one person’s planets fall in the other’s life, are one of the most revealing parts of the reading, and they cannot be read without a reliable time for each chart. When you order, you will be asked how you know your birth time for each person, from a dropdown. If you are unsure of the time for either you or the other person, tick the box underneath that person’s dropdown and a rectification will be added for half the normal price. The corrected time then serves this reading and any future one. Please note rectification can be a lengthily process and involves me asking questions about significant life events.
